The breed is credited with being developed by Lord Tweedmouth, who wanted to create a strong yet good-natured dog. The Golden Retriever is the perfect family dog and only needs daily exercise and sufficient attention. This sociable and active dog is very friendly by nature. It likes to swim and carry things in its mouth – watch where you put your shoes!
