The book is a direct response to the care revolution of the past 5 years, where it has become apparent that there is (again) a need for a different holistic approach to care - from the relationship between healthcare professionals, the rights of mothers-to-be to the recognition of new parents' needs to be able to provide optimal care for their child.
As something completely new, the book focuses not only on the well-being of the newborn baby, but also specifically on the well-being of the new parents.
Line Bak Rothstein (b. 1992) is a BA in the history of ideas and a self-taught chef and hostess. She has always worked with food, either in the field or in the kitchen, and is interested in how food can be used to spread care. Kamilla Rønnestad (b. 1990) is educated in nutrition and health with a special interest in the connection between food and mental health. She has a background as a food and society writer and from a number of social economy enterprises.
Together, Line and Kamilla run the company Dea. Inspired by beautiful postpartum traditions from around the world, Dea develops food that is tailored to provide care for the new mother. They dream that all new mothers will get all the nutrition, support and rest they need to recover from a birth. And that we will all become better at providing care for each other through nutritious food.
